New York City-based juicery and health food retailer, Juice Press, kicked off their first “symposium” last week at the Juice Press location on West 22nd Street in New York City. This symposium was part of Juice Press’ new “BE YOUR BEST” Series, a wellness series designed to offer health tips, advice and fitness guidance to help encourage and teach guests how to “be their best”.
Although Juice Press has held events similar like this in the past, this was the first official BE YOUR BEST event for Juice Press. For two hours, attendees enjoyed light bites from the kitchen of Juice Press while listening to a Q&A panel discussion with some of the health industry’s top commentators. Breakthrough tips we’re provided by three seasoned health professionals, including Dr. Holly Phillips, M.D. and author of Exhaustion Breakthrough, Dr. Jordan Metzl, M.D. and author of The Athlete’s Book of Home Remedies, and SELF Magazine’s fitness director, Liz Plosser.
Sample size portions of salads, yogurt with granola, and a variety of cold-pressed juices and smoothies were passed around to guests, giving them a first look and taste at Juice Press’s delicious fall menu. Attendees enjoyed these small bites while listening to the panel discussion, moderated by Emily Abbate, online editor of Rodale Wellness. Panelists discussed and dissected numerous health topics, such as the effects of caffeine, the importance of a healthy, balanced breakfast, how to increase energy and muscle recovery, a topic close to home for two of the panelists who are multiple marathoners and will be running in the upcoming New York City Marathon.
Some big takeaways from the discussion included that probiotics can help improve digestion, mood and overall health, caffeine enhances athletic performance by boosting the force of muscle contractions, and magnesium can reduce muscle cramps and tension plus minimize fatigue.
Guests also received a complimentary gift bag from Juice Press, featuring health and wellness items and perks from the likes of Juice Press, ProViotic, Cyc Fitness, SoulCycle, Anna Krasier’s AKT inMotion classes, and other top wellness partners. Copies of Dr. Phillips and Dr. Metzl’s books were available for purchase and signing after the lecture.
