When the time for spring cleaning arrives, you may want to refresh your house a bit. Having a new kitchen will be a great way to start off the new year. So come home cleaning, start thinking on how you can breathe some fresh life into your stale old kitchen. Here are some tips to help you get started.
Think about location.
Think about whether you like everything’s position and whether you would like to keep it there. Think about new places for everything that does not please you. Should the counters be so close to the sink? How about moving them to the opposite wall, and create more movement while cooking? Or maybe it is already like that, and you want to move them near the sink to have less walking about. Is the refrigerator at a practical location? Change it if not. If your washing machine is in the kitchen you probably have little choice about where to place it, but you can still move it around so that it does not get in your way.
The kitchen is the easiest place to clutter up. Thorough and efficient house cleaning is the perfect time to start de-cluttering, so before you start thinking décor, maybe you should think order. Take everything out, and then place it back with a more practical order – the least used items go in the back, and the most used – in the front. Place organisers in the drawers if you do not have any. Utensil search was never easier with organisers.
Racks are one of the more useful space savers you can have in the kitchen. From ordering your pans and pots on them to save yourself cabinet space, to having a wine rack to save yourself constant cellar trips, they will make your life easier, and if you experiment with colour and position, they will make your kitchen prettier. Add a lid rack as well to save even more space in the pot cabinets.
Repainting the kitchen is a tedious task, and it is even more annoying that you will have to wait for the paint to dry before you can have a proper home-cooked meal, but it is all worth it if you are tired of your kitchen’s outlook and want some freshness. Do try and avoid more odorous paints as this will have a negative effect on everything you do in the kitchen.
To make things stand out and further organise things in your kitchen, add a few stands for the saltier, spices, and herbs in the kitchen.
This is a good beginning. Food for thought for you and your creative mind. Now all you have to do is find a proper order for everything, add the colours you like, and then start the cleaning service to have a house clean along with the brand new kitchen.
