The Garden Spot is a unique, very affordable garden center located at 3645 Highway 22,in Oconto, WI. Oconto is a small northern Wisconsin town that is located about 45 minutes north of Green Bay. The cheerful owner of the Garden Spot is Ronald Martin.
The plants look amazing and the prices, even better. I was impressed by the fact that the many varieties of culinary herb plants and small perennials are priced at 1.25 each or 10 for $10.00. At this price you can be lavish in starting new beds and borders. Dahlias, geraniums, coleus, no matter if you are looking for sun annuals or shade lovers, you will find them here. The 4.5 inch pots of annuals are 2.85 each, while 4 packs are priced with a budget in mind at 1.39 each.
There is an extensive array of seeds, edible landscape plants like gooseberries, raspberries and blackberries, shallot bulbs, potatoes, onion sets and asparagus roots. Potted apple trees abound with a mixture of old time favorites like Wolf River and Cox Orange Pippin along with new favorites like Gala. The plants are all healthy, and appear to be completely insect and disease free. In addition there is maple syrup and local wildflower honey for sale.
On April 27th, 2013, The Garden Spot will have an open house featuring 10 % off purchases and free coffee and doughnuts. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Be sure to notice the pretty blue dresser on display with plants spilling out of the drawers and the lush hanging baskets.
