In coordination with New York Fashion Week during the first two weeks of September, Bon Appétit hosted a slew of events as part of their annual program, Bon Appétit Presents Feast or Fashion. Programming celebrated the newest in the food and fashion worlds all week long.
Among the program’s events, Bon Appétit’s annual Hot 10 party came back for its fifth celebration of America’s Best New Restaurants of the year, and offered consumers a chance to eat at the best restaurants in the country. Held in the evening of Thursday, September 10th at the Seaport Studios in downtown Manhattan, the Hot 10 Party was a night of fun, food, fashion and frills.
For the annual Hot 10 list, Andrew Knowlton, Restaurant Editor at Bon Appétit magazine traveled thousands of miles and dined at hundreds of restaurants across the United States in search of the country’s best new places to eat. His top ten picks were honored and selected to showcase their prized dishes at the Hot 10 Party during New York Fashion Week.
Despite the rain, hundreds of guests came out to the South Street Seaport for live music, creative and beautiful beverage concoctions, a dose of fashion and beauty and a full plate (or two) of food. From pickled French fries hailing from San Francisco or quail legs from Austin, to shrimp rolls from North Carolina and burgundy escargot from Los Angeles, the Bon Appétit Hot 10 Party was a dizzying ensemble of delicious foods from around the country. Set up Smorgasburg-style, each restaurant had its own tent for preparing and distributing samples to the guests. Party-goers were able to experience each new restaurant with all five senses… from the various smells and sounds of food being cooked, to seeing the creations made before their eyes, feeling the textures and, of course, tasting the final masterpieces.
The event successfully drew in crowds of restaurant-goers and food lovers looking to get a first taste of the best new restaurants in the country. Looping in the latest fashions with complimentary makeup from Maybelline and Calvin Klein fragrance-inspired ice cream, the Hot 10 Party gave a nod to fashionistas and style casters who came out to celebrate the best new restaurants.
Being selected as one of the “Hot 10” restaurants of the year is a huge testament to the chefs and their restaurants. Not only were the chefs invited to New York for the Hot 10 Party, where they got to serve their prized dishes to hungry and critical New Yorkers, but they were also included in Bon Appétit’s September issue. With colorful, glossy, multi-page spreads for each of the selected chefs, this feature put these new restaurants on the map, and will be sure to draw in crowds from near and far.
This year is the fifth anniversary of the program, Bon Appétit Presents Feast or Fashion, created by Bon Appétit editor in chief Adam Rapoport and chief revenue officer and publisher Pamela Drucker Mann.
